But protection can fail, and these types of apps are frequented by many people who engage in risky behaviors all the time and so are not that responsible when it comes to protection, plus many of them already have active STDs. So sure, in theory it is all fine that everyone is a consenting adult and uses protection. I know guys who ended up getting raped that way by people who refused to use protection. It is simply common sense that that is highly risky behavior. I am telling you like it is, sex with strangers in a big city using a phone app is dangerous, and has been proven to have increased risk of STD transmission, as well as sexual assaults. I am in my early 30s, so your attempt to blame my values on being "old" falls on deaf ears. I knew there would be people who would not like my opinion, but I'm entitled to it, just like everyone else. Since poeple of LGBT seemed to be here discussing about the pride event I decided to share my disappointment that is all. My decision to post here was because I found no other related posts anywhere about miami pride 2015 and comments about it.

But definitely did I want to have sex and I am sure many other people my age did, of course you may not get it because you had your fun times in the 70s and now your old and your only definition of a good time is the trying food and celebrating equal rights which is ok but it is unfair you tell me what I shouldn't do or what not. Whether its my fault or just bad luck I don't know.

see what pride was about and feel part of a greater community or project that is going on. Of course I wanted to meet people, make friends etc. I think the problem is not of the gay population itself, but society in general and their misguided view of sex, particularly male sex. Its ironic how we are celebrating "freedom and societal progress" when when we are getting back in the closet of inhibitions and heteronormativity. I should have no shame in engaging in whatever type of consensual sex I want (with protection of course). While I understand your opinion on this matter, I do not agree with it. It shows how Miami gay people thrive despite a state that treats them so horribly. Also, what bums everywhere and creeps? Did you go skulking around under the bridge or by downtown or something? lol.Īll I can say is that I am so happy Miami has a gay pride and its so widely accepted by the city, not tucked away or un attended. Your shyness could have been misinterpreted. Miami men, especially Latinos, like confidence a lot - not arrogance, but people who like themselves for who they are no matter what. Now, since you came to Miami looking for a hookup, your best bet would have been a club/party or something I imagine. Sure, you COULD meet someone and get some, but i mean most people aren't there for that. Its like going to a basketball game to hook up, or thanksgiving party or something. I don't understand why you chose a pride parade as a sex cruising event because maybe I just don't associate the two that way. Its about coming together as a community, being surrounded by gay people, allies and an absolute sense of openness and freedom to wear/act/say whatever you want openly without being judged for it. To the guy who had a bad experience, look - this was your first pride event, mine too tbh, and I didn't go there expecting a wild sexy time and as a result I really enjoyed it. The woman (and her adorable little daughter) in front of me handed me beads, 2 cokes and fans because she got extra and I was so struck by her kindness (and i saw others do it too). You know, its funny because what struck me the most was the sense of kindness and generosity - it was really really hot and steamy out there, but every time the coca cola truck came by or water or some other goodie, people who got extras were passing it around to total strangers. I must have gone to a different pride event because I loved it as was super impressed by how fun the atmosphere was (given the heat!) and how big the crowds were.
